Portsoy is a beautiful rural town on the Moray Firth roughly fifty miles from Inverness and Aberdeen. It lies approximately half way between Cullen and Banff.
Established as a Burgh by Mary Queen of Scots in 1550, it flourished as a fishing port no doubt aided by its safe deep water approaches. As the fishing industry declined over recent decades, Portsoy has become recognised by the artistic community for its unique light, undeveloped and rugged scenery, and traditional Highland hospitality.
